Astral Body
A name given to the "soul" or "spirit", the intangible or non-material counterpart to the physical body; the spiritual appearance, the energy emanating from the physical body, which allegdly functions in the astral plane.
The astral body is said by occultists and clairvoyants to be of a fine, highly luminous and vibrating nature, flooded with colors of indescribable beauty. It is also regarded as having an independent existence on the astral plane during periods when the physical body is asleep or when a person consciously indulges in astral travel.
St. Paul, in his first 'Epistle to the Corinthians', states that "There is a natural (physical) body and there is a spiritual body." Psychic research, too, has long ago established the belief that within every material being there is a non-material double, a cryptic entity coinciding, with minute exactitude, with the physical mechanism in every centre and cell.
