Abigor
Also known as Eligor, or Eligos.
According to pre Judeo-Christian
theology, a
demon
of the superior order, conjured for his power to foretell the future and to
provide military aid and advice. He is shown either in the form of a very
handsome knight bearing a lance and a standard, or as a ghostly specter,
sometimes riding a winged horse.
Sixty of the infernal legions are at
Abigor's command, which he directs from atop his winged horse. He is also known as the
"Grand Duke of Hades."
"Abigor presents himself as a horseman carrying a
lance, a standard, or a scepter. He commands sixty legions and is a
demon of high degree, grand
duke of hell. He knows of the secrets of warfare, of the future, and can
instruct leaders of the ways to earn
their soldiers' respect."

Johann Wier also mentions Abigor in his 'De Praestigiis Daemonum' (1563):
"Eligor, alias Abigor, is a great duke, and appeereth as a
goodlie [handsome] knight, carrieng a lance, an ensigne, and a scepter: he
answereth fullie of things hidden, and of warres, and how souldiers should
meete: he knoweth things to come, and procureth the favour of lords and
knights, governing sixtie legions of divels."
In Mathers 'The Goetia, The Key of Solomon the
King',
Abigor is as well profiled:
"Eligos is the Fifteenth Spirit listed in the Goetia,
and
governs 60 Legions. He appears as a knight carrying a lance, an ensign, and a
serpent. He knows of future events, hidden things, wars, and can cause Lords
and
members of the upperclass to fall in love."

As you may have noticed, Occultopedia is being updated.
Navigation areas are completed, but the word definition pages are not. The
layout in these pages might not look as good as they should. Updating them
may take a while, so please, be patient and understanding. I am only one
person working on this site in my spare time.
As soon as these updates are concluded I will begin setting up the
Forums, so we can all discuss the
occult, paranormal and extraordinary, and whatever else we please.
Registration will be required.
Occultopedia's images and art are also undergoing an adjustment to
