Roswell
Notorious (July 2,
1947) flying
saucer crash site, near the town of the same name in New
Mexico.
A fierce storm raged
across the desert near Roswell on that fateful night. On the following
morning W. W. "Mac" Brazel found strange debris scattered over a
large area of his ranch. This consisted of a tinfoil-like substance,
strands of wire, small metallic rods covered with undecipherable writing,
and pieces of parchment-like paper. Brazel collected a few scraps and gave
them to the local sheriff, who contacted the Roswell Army Air Field, then
the home of the world's only atomic attack unit, the 509th Bomb Group.
A group of investigators
sent by the 509th spent a day at Brazel's ranch collecting the debris to
take it back to the base...
There is a lot of
speculation about what really happen. Reports say that over 100 miles
away, Grady L. Barnett came upon what he thought was a crashed flying disc
(presumably the object from which the debris at Roswell were a part of).
Beside it lay four small dead bodies, with frail limbs and
disproportionately large heads with big, slanted eyes. According to
Barnett, their bodies were encased in tight, one-piece, gray suits with no
visible fastenings.
Here too, the military
was quickly on the scene. Barnett and another group of witnesses were
ushered away and ordered not to speak about the incident. Shortly
afterward, on July 8, 1947, an official press release, approved by a Lt.
Walter Haut, announced that the flying saucer mystery had been solved, and
that saucer debris had been recovered by the 509th Bomb Group. Within
hours, however, that press release had been canceled. The debris from both
incidents was reportedly flown to Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth,
Texas, where Brig. Gen. Roger Ramey, commander of the Eighth Air Force,
called a press conference. The flying saucer, Ramey explained, was nothing
more exotic than the remains of a standard weather balloon... See

Occultopedia is the genuine article, the
original and the best internet index of the extraordinary and uncanny,
shamelessly copied by many, but never equaled. Online since the
early 90s — at first in a free web space provider, and in 1997 finally
with its own domain name and hosting — Occultopedia still is the
principal online resource for those looking for the unexplained, the
curious and the unusual. |
